THIS IS ROSE TYDUS.

In 1975 I gave my life to the Lord while in Miami, following years of working in the entertainment industry as a singer/dancer and model. Being lead of the Lord in 1976, I obediently abandoned a successful career when I was introduced to Public Administration.

1. FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN City Clerk in Miami Dade County (1977)

2. FIRST Founder/CEO of a Rescue Mission in State of Florida

3. FIRST African American female placed on regular minister schedule of Miami Rescue Mission

4. FIRST African American crowned MS SENIOR FLORIDA (2016)

OPA-LOCKA CITY CLERK

In 1977 became the first African American City Clerk of the City of Opa-locka but also the first African American City Clerk - Miami Dade County.

OPA-LOCKA VICE MAYOR / COMMISSIONER

During the years 2000-2012, was elected by the residents of Opa-locka and served 3 four-year terms as Vice Mayor and City Commissioner. While serving in those capacities, my heartfelt statement was:

"I'M NOT A POLITICIAN. I'M A WOMAN WHO LOVES GOD AND LOVES PEOPLE. THIS POSITION AFFORDS ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THEM BOTH."

WHY I’M RUNNING FOR OFFICE

I'm running for office to WORK for the people and WITH the people of Opa-Locka to build a better community.

I have over 20 years' experience as a public servant - City Clerk, Vice Mayor, City Commissioner and have served on various city Boards and agencies. During that time, I've been blessed to be a part of many positive changes. But, we have so much further to go.

Recent YouTube presentations have portrayed Opa-locka negatively in the areas of public safety, housing economics, financial stability and aesthetics. We need programs and projects that are going to assist residents during these adverse times. We need less PARTIES and more PRODUCTIVITY. We need less COMPLACENCY and more EXECUTION of what's right. We need IMAGE CHANGE. You're only as strong your leadership. I'M THAT PROVEN STRONG LEADERSHIP!
